Chief Group Accountant

Our client, operating in different sectors such as Real Estate, Tourism, Education and so on, is looking for a Chief Group Accountant

Reporting to the Group Deputy CEO and the Group CEO, the Chief Group Accountant will play an essential role within the organisation which has a group structure and will be responsible for consolidating results for the Group as a whole.

Main responsibilities:

Accounting, Financial Management & Reporting
  • Oversee the day to day running of the Accounting sections and Accounting department of all clusters of the group including but limited to the Head Office.
  • Ensure that there is ongoing data entry and update of records in the accounting system
  • Prepare and maintain regular financial planning reports, monthly P&L, Balance sheet and Cash Flow compared to budgets, manage and explain monthly variances as well as financial performance of all entities of the Group
  • Follow up and monitor proper cash flow management
  • Maintain proper fixed assets register for the group
  • Control of all Tax returns & issues and coordinate proper and timely filing of Tax Returns with the MRA
  • Preparation of the Board reporting pack
  • Negotiate and obtaining Finance for the smooth running of the different entities of the Group
  • Ensure to put in place and perform regular as well as random checks of all entities of the Group
  • Ensure that the legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions are met
  • Work in close collaboration with Internal and External Auditors
  • Yearly Audit planning discussed and agreed with auditors. Assist auditors and be the point of contact of auditors for all audit queries and information. Timely preparation of yearly accounts for audit
Budgeting and forecasting
  • Prepare consolidated periodic budgets and forecasts for all entities of the group
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts
  • Prepare management accounts, annual financial statements, group annual report, group consolidated financial statements in accordance with appropriate accounting standards from the accounting records of all entities
 Strategic Management
  • Re-structure the Accounting department thereby putting in place Standard Operating Procedures
  • Assist in preparation of financial feasibility studies for new projects
  • Assist in development of financial planning and analysis of reports
  • Assist in implementation of tools and systems to provide relevant financial and operational information to management and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations
  • Oversee long-term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with the group’s strategic plan
  • Design, implement and maintain internal controls over financial procedures and financial reporting
People Management
  • Coach, train, supervise, manage and motivate team members
  • Plan and coordinate tasks related to administration and people management
  • Work in close collaboration with all departments and colleagues
Administrative tasks
  • Make full use of Office tools which include but are not limited to preparing Reports, Excel Templates and Power Point Presentation.
  • Perform all administrative tasks which include but are not limited to emailing, typing, copying, scanning, filing of documents
  • ACCA qualified or ACA
  • At least 5 years of proven working experience in a similar position

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Time Management - ability to meet deadlines /time-frame
  • Intermediate to advanced IT skills including Excel and Accounting packages
