Our client, a Private Equity Firm, specialized in high potential Mauritian SMEs and forming part of a major local conglomerate, is looking for a Finance Manager

Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will be two-fold, equally split between the following areas:
  • Management and oversight of the accounting, reporting and financial functions of the Company
  • Active participation in the private equity deal making process alongside the CEO and the investment team.
Main responsibilities:
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions of the organization
  • Provide recommendations to strategically enhance the financial performances of the Company
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, dashboards, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Liaise with auditors for the internal and external audit assignments
  • Conception of the annual report and project managing the overall process including non-financial sections
  • Oversee valuation of investments
  • Prepare presentations to the Audit Committee and Board of Directors
  • Oversee payroll processing
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts and long-term financial plans
  • Design and maintain an efficient internal control system and oversee the internal audit function
  • Understand and mitigate the Company's risks, and report risk issues to the CEO and the Board
  • Analyse and flag investee companies’ performance issues and/or advise on remedial actions
  • Manage payments to creditors and bank transfers
  • Monitor, forecast and manage cash balances and short-term treasury placements
  • Undertake feasibility studies for new investment projects
  • Develop comprehensive financial models
  • Conduct valuation of potential target companies
  • Conduct or oversee financial due diligence of investment targets
  • Advise on the accounting and reporting functions of investee companies to match the Company’s requirements
  • Assist in portfolio management
Qualification:
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • At least 5-year experience as Accountant or Finance Manager within a large organisation or as auditor in a leading accounting firm with exposure to listed entities
Candidate profile:
  • Demonstrate ancillary skills and experience in one or more of the following fields: corporate finance; private equity/venture capital; corporate law; corporate & investment banking; project finance; investment management; treasury; entrepreneurship.
  • Proficient user of an accounting package
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance concepts, requirements and reporting obligations
  • Proficiency in writing reports pertaining to financial performance, business model, strategy and risk management
  • Knowledge of all statutory and legal requirements of listed companies
  • Advanced skills in Excel and other MS Office suite applications
  • Proficiency in devising financial models
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Comfortable interacting with Senior Management
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen
  • Dynamic and entrepreneurial with a driven and assertive attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Flexibility, resilience, autonomy and adaptability
  • Detailed oriented
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in both English and French
