Our client, in the Engineering sector, is looking for a Production Manager

Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Production (Workshop) operations. The role is responsible to lead, oversee, and supervise all works related to the workshop, and to ensure adherence to all work-related processes and procedures by the staff & workers operating in the workshop.

Responsible for work planning as per projects delivery and is also responsible to liaise with the maintenance team to ensure timely maintenance for continuous running of the workshop machinery and equipment.

Main responsibilities:

Workshop Management
  • Plans for resources on workshop manufacturing, engineering jobs, projects as per project/customers’ requirements and schedule
  • Studies work methods and fabrication drawings to understand the scope of work
  • Coordinates with other departments (Proposal, Projects, Design, Procurement etc.) on ongoing projects/new works and resolution of issues
  • Manages sales from Sales department with necessary follow-up on those jobs
  • Addresses administrative issues regarding validation, job closure, supplier payments and availability of materials for workshop
  • Ensures zero downtime of workshop machinery and equipment through timely maintenance
  • Ensures adherence to work methods, procedures and processes including Health & Safety
Quality & Customer Service
  • Ensures that all workshop teams abide to company policies and procedures
  • Satisfies external & internal customers’ requirements
  • Performs duties and ensures that teams perform duties in accordance with quality norms and regulations as set by Management
  • Proposes new work techniques/procedures which will help to continuously improve quality of service delivered to clients
 
Safety & Health
  • Carries out risk assessment (formal risk assessment exercise, Permit to Work, or Take 5) for each job before it is executed by the team
  • Briefs the team on potential risks associated to a job and explains safety measures which will be taken to mitigate the risks during the execution of the job
  • Reports any unsafe practice to Management or to the Safety and Health Manager
  • Carries out Toolbox Talks with the teams to sensitize them on the importance of Safety and Health at work
  • Abides to Company’s Safety and Health norms and regulations as set by Management
  • Abides to Client’s Safety and Health norms and regulations whenever on site and as prescribed by Management
 
Qualification:
  • BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in managing the workshop department/ production activities of similar nature
Candidate profile:
  • Conversant in AutoCAD, ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driving license
  • Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing technologies
  • Good supervisory and problem-solving skills
  • Good time management and communication skills
  • Prepared to work on overseas site and during odd hours
  • In depth understanding of technical/engineering drawings
  • Well-versed on Health & Safety/HR aspects
